Auto injury treatment is medical care for injuries caused by a car crash: whiplash, herniated discs, pinched nerves, joint pain, concussion and soft tissue damage. Adrenaline can hide pain right after impact, so neck, back and nerve injuries often show up a day or several days later. Why You Should Get Checked Even If You Feel Okay
A lot of people leave the scene of a crash feeling shaken but fine. Then they wake up two days later unable to turn their head.
That pattern is common. Adrenaline masks pain right after impact, and injuries to the neck, back and nerves often take a day or several to show up. A disc can be damaged long before it irritates a nerve. A mild concussion can look like ordinary tiredness.
There are two practical reasons not to wait:
Your body
Injuries caught early are usually easier to treat, and pain that is left alone can settle in and become a long-term problem.
Your claim
New York’s no-fault rules set short deadlines. An insurer can question or deny treatment that started late, and a visit shortly after the crash ties your symptoms to the accident in the medical record.

Go to an emergency room first if you lost consciousness, have a severe headache, confusion, chest or abdominal pain, weakness or numbness in an arm or leg, or trouble controlling your bladder or bowels. Come see us once you've been cleared.

What Happens at Your First Visit
Four steps, from the exam to discharge. See your first visit for more.
Evaluation
We start with what happened in the crash and what you’re feeling now. Then comes a physical and neurological exam: range of motion, strength, reflexes, and where it hurts. This is also when we note how your symptoms line up with the accident.
Imaging, if it’s needed
Not everyone needs an MRI. When the exam points to a disc, nerve or joint problem, we order X-rays or MRI, or send you to a specialist. Whether we order a test or hold off, we write down why.
A plan built around your injury
Depending on what we find, that can include physical therapy, injections, or regenerative treatment. The plan changes as you improve or if something isn’t working.
Follow-up and discharge
We track your progress at each visit, including anything that hasn’t fully resolved. Your discharge notes record where you ended up, and they often matter later in a claim.
Treatments Available
Most auto injuries improve with conservative care. When pain doesn't respond, or an imaging finding explains it, we can go further. Options include:
We lean on procedures and rehab before long-term pain medication wherever it makes medical sense.
How New York No-Fault Insurance Works
New York is a no-fault state. Your own auto insurance pays for your accident-related care, whoever was driving badly. A few points worth knowing:
Coverage
Basic no-fault covers up to $50,000 per person for medical expenses and other basic economic loss, including lost earnings (up to $2,000 a month for up to three years) and some out-of-pocket costs.
The 30-day rules
You generally have 30 days from the accident to file a no-fault application with the insurer, and treatment should begin within that window. Late filings can be denied unless there’s a reasonable explanation for the delay.
Who’s covered
Drivers, passengers and pedestrians struck by a car can usually claim. Check with your insurer if you’re unsure.
Suing for pain and suffering
No-fault covers bills, not pain and suffering. To sue the at-fault driver for that, New York requires a “serious injury” as defined in the Insurance Law. Detailed medical records matter here, and an attorney can tell you whether your case qualifies.
Our billing team verifies your coverage at your first visit and handles claim paperwork with the carrier. If the accident happened on the job, we also work with workers' compensation. See insurance for more.
We're a medical practice, not a law firm. For questions about fault, deadlines or lawsuits, talk to a New York personal injury attorney.
What to Keep and Bring
Don't have everything? Come in anyway. We'll help you track down the rest.
- Your auto insurance card and the claim number, if you have one
- The police report or report number
- Names and contact information for the other driver and any witnesses
- Photos of the vehicles and the scene
- A list of your symptoms, and the date each one started
- Any ER or urgent care paperwork
- Receipts for out-of-pocket costs and a record of missed work
